Hyping Up Verizon Up
I promise I am not about to try to sell you on signing up for Verizon Wireless. This is not going to be a post that talks about the pros and cons of one cell phone provider or another. Every family's situation is unique and there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to determining which cell service is best.
Instead this will be an entry that focuses on one specific benefit for those who do happen to be Verizon Wireless customers - Verizon Up Super Tickets. If you have never heard of these rewards before, then you have definitely been missing out. Recently I have mentioned them to friends, family and coworkers and was surprised to find out just how many people didn't know about these opportunities.
Verizon Up Super Tickets are part of the Verizon Up reward program that can be accessed through a tab at the bottom of the My Verizon app.
Super Tickets are two free premium tickets offered to various events in NY/NJ by Verizon to their wireless customers. The events that are available are updated every day and are usually for dates a few weeks in the future. Over the years, I have seen them offer NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB and concerts tickets - the majority are for events taking place at Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center and UBS Arena. Verizon provides a countdown to when the tickets will be released and you have to be one of the first ones to "claim" the offer to win them. Each customer is only allowed to "claim" one set of Super Tickets every six months and once you do, you will see a message in the app with the next date you can try again for the perk.
Throughout the years, my family and I have scored Super Tickets to various types of events and below is some information that might help you choose which ones are best for you.
Nets Tickets at Barclays Center: Included two tickets in Section 12, Row 19, plus access to the Qatar Airways Lounge. The lounge included free unlimited food and soft drinks, plus access to a bar with alcoholic beverages for purchase. There were carving stations, burgers, sushi, popcorn, snacks, cookies, ice cream bars, etc. The lounge had a glass wall with a view of the players running out of the locker room and onto the court before the start of the game and also provided access to the practice court during half time, where you could shoot around.
Mets Tickets at Citifield: Included two tickets in the first row between home plate and the dugout, plus assigned parking in the press parking lot. Unlimited free food was provided - they had their own special food spot behind home plate and you could order free food delivered to your seat from any of the concession stands on the Ballpark app. Additionally, you could access any of the clubs in the stadium. Non-alcoholic drinks were free as well.
Ranger Tickets at Madison Square Garden: Included two tickets in Section 120, Row 21. No additional perks were provided.
Islander Tickets at UBS Arena: Included two tickets in Section 109, Row 4 plus a parking pass in the Silver parking lot. The seats were a few rows directly behind the Islanders goal (amazing view!) They also provided access to the Verizon Lounge which had unlimited free food and drinks, including beer, wine, cider and hard seltzers. When we went, they had a carving station, a taco station, filet mignon medallions, chicken fingers, hot dogs, french fries, fruit and salad bars, a dessert table and Klondike bars available upon request. Cocktails could be purchased if desired.
Concert Tickets at Madison Square Garden: We claimed tickets for Machine Gun Kelly's concert in June 2022. Included were two tickets in Section 106, Row 11. No other perks were provided.
Tips: When the countdown gets to 5 seconds, start tapping / clicking really fast in the area right above the "Try to Claim" button. This is where the claim button has popped up recently. Also, if you get a message that all perks were claimed, keep trying until the app grays out the event and says they the tickets are no longer available - sometimes people don't finish their claims in time and the tickets gets re-released. Please be aware that you will NOT get a confirmation email for your perk after you "claim" it and it will take a few days for the digital tickets to be sent to the email address you provide.
